Short answer: KiloDrive driver onboarding builds a readiness record from identity, driver-licence, profile and vehicle evidence. Uploading a document means it was submitted; it does not mean an administrator or authority has approved it. A driver reaches the bidding-ready state only after the required profile, membership and assigned vehicle checks pass for the active country.
Drivers should not have to guess what “setup incomplete” means. KiloDrive's checklist shows each requirement, status, review note and next action, and links vehicle requirements to the registered vehicle.

One journey, several kinds of evidence
Driver onboarding combines records with different owners and expiry rules. Identity details show who is applying; a profile photo supports recognition; licence evidence presents the driving credential; and make, model, year and plate identify the vehicle. Registration, insurance, fitness, contact confirmation and legal acknowledgements remain distinct requirements.
Registration does not prove insurance, and an approved licence does not approve a vehicle. The readiness gate therefore checks the profile, contact state, licence, primary vehicle, registration, fitness, insurance, membership and assignments. Exact requirements vary by country.
What each status means
Missing means the required item has not been provided or no usable current record exists. Pending means evidence was submitted and is awaiting a decision; the submission control should not invite duplicates as though nothing happened. Approved means the reviewed record passed the KiloDrive verification process at that time. Rejected means the reviewer found a problem and should provide a human-readable note. Expired means a previously usable time-bound document is no longer current.
Approval is not permanent. Registration, insurance and fitness can expire. A material vehicle edit can trigger reverification because the reviewed facts no longer describe the same operating record. KiloDrive can warn before expiry, return a vehicle to pending after expiry and prevent an unverified vehicle from being used for new work.
These product states do not replace government records. Jamaica's Road Traffic Act provides for certificates of fitness, vehicle registration and evidence of required insurance. The Transport Authority publishes separate licensing requirements for public-passenger categories. A KiloDrive review helps enforce marketplace rules; it is not itself a government licence, vehicle inspection or insurance guarantee.
Why vehicle identity must stay stable
A rider selects an offer partly on the vehicle information shown. The accepted trip therefore needs a snapshot of the selected vehicle and compliance version. If a driver changes the active vehicle after acceptance, the historical trip should not silently adopt a different plate or document set.
Drivers should enter VIN, make, model, year and plate accurately where applicable. NHTSA provides US VIN decoding and recall tools, but other countries use their own systems. Check the relevant authority for recalls and inspection duties.
Secure document handling
Identity and compliance documents are sensitive. KiloDrive's document policy keeps them private, scans new uploads and can quarantine a file until a clean result is available. A quarantined document is not an ordinary application error and should not be made public or shared through a generic operating-system share sheet. Authorized reviewers open it through a controlled viewer after capability, country, session and scan-state checks.
Upload a clear photograph or PDF of only the requested document. Never send credentials or identity files through chat. Follow the field-specific correction if quality or format is rejected.
The onboarding interface should also remain understandable on a small phone. W3C accessibility guidance recommends clear labels, instructions, validation feedback and progress for multi-page forms. KiloDrive's wizard should preserve progress and return a driver to the last incomplete step rather than restarting country and role selection.

Does uploading a document make it approved?
No. A successful upload normally creates a pending review state; approval requires the applicable review decision.
Why can an approved vehicle return to pending?
A material edit or an expired registration, insurance or fitness record can require reverification because the previous approval no longer describes current evidence.
Does a paid membership let a driver bid without verified documents?
No. Membership limits and compliance eligibility are separate, and a plan must not bypass identity, vehicle or active-assignment checks.
Is KiloDrive verification the same as a government licence or inspection?
